A Vietnam Airlines flight from South Korea’s Seoul City was the first international flight of the year to land at the Da Nang International Airport.  It arrived at 1.45pm on 19 February (the 1st day of the 1st lunar month) and a welcome ceremony for the 182 passengers was held by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

During their stay in the city, the Korean passengers will be visiting some local tourist attractions and experiencing some of the traditions of the Vietnamese Tet Festival.

Last year, Da Nang saw significant increases in both the number of air passengers and flights which helped the city's tourism sector to increase its revenues.

According to statistics recently released by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city welcomed a total of 3.8 million international tourists last year.  321,500 of them arrived on direct international flights into Da Nang, a 21.7% rise against 2013.  There are now 7 scheduled and 12 charter international routes in total.

In 2015, Da Nang will pay special attention to fully tapping into international tourism markets through promoting the opening of new direct flights between Da Nang and Japan, South Korea, Thailand and other countries.  This will bring increasing numbers of visitors to the city.

The city is likely to have received about 14,125 passengers from 140 flights, both international and domestic, over the Tet Festival, a 68.3% increase compared with the same period last year.
