2nd stage of specialised fashion shopping area expected to open on National Day
On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) Vice Chairman Phung Tan Viet chaired a discussion about the implementation of the 2nd stage of a specialised shopping area project along Le Duan Street. Work is expected to start on a section of the street, between its intersection with Ong Ich Khiem Street and the Cai Lang T-junction, in early May. This shopping area is scheduled to be officially opened on 2 September to mark the 70th anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day.
According to a recent survey conducted by the Thanh Khe District authorities, the 850m-long section is home to 246 businesses and shops, 100 of which are involved in selling fashion items.

The work will involve replacing the existing pavement tiles along the section with pre-cast terrazzo ones to give high aesthetic value. A 2m-wide section of the pavements for pedestrians will be created next to the shop entrances, whilst parking spaces for motorbikes will be set up next to the kerbs.
In addition, the existing lights and trees along the section will be replaced by new ones. The colour and size of the fashion shops’ billboards will be adjusted at the same time to ensure the aesthetics of their shopfronts.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Viet urged local relevant agencies to estimate the implementation costs of this 2nd stage, draw up the architectural designs, and encourage traders along the section to stop illegally placing tables and chairs on the pavement for the purpose of trade before the end of April.
