During his meeting with Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho last Friday, the General Director of the Da Nang-based FPT Corporation Bui Quang Ngoc asked the city authorities to pay special attention to the training of human resources for the local IT sector.  He also stressed the need for the city to promote IT applications in medical examinations and treatment, and in transport infrastructure management.  The aim is to help Da Nang become a smarter city, he added.

Mr Ngoc also asked the Da Nang authorities to follow the examples of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City by issuing more preferential policies for domestic employees and foreign experts who are involved in the hi-tech industry.

In reply, Chairman Tho highlighted the Corporations’ suggestions which match the city’s socio-economic development orientations.  He remarked that the corporation’s software production and digital content creation are its spearhead and high-value-added products.  The city leader also said that the FPT Corporation is expected to become a key investor in the city’s progress.

Last year, Da Nang earned over 33 million USD from exporting software, around 26 million USD of which came from the FPT Corporation.

FPT Software Da Nang is the Corporation’s fastest-growing software export centre and, thanks to this, Da Nang has emerged as one of the country’s attractive software outsourcing destinations.  As a result, over 30 large companies from around the world, but mainly from Japan, have chosen the local FPT Software Company to develop software outsourcing.  This has helped to create jobs for people from the city and from other localities in the central region and highlands.

In 2011, the company recruited 400 employees, and that figure jumped to 1,400 in 2014.   This year, the company plans to recruit an extra 700 employees.  By 2020, it is aiming for 10,000 employees in total, generating about 170 million USD in turnover.
