A discussion took place on Wednesday about the establishment of 2 new specialised shopping streets.  They are to be a specialised fashion shopping area along a section of Phan Chau Trinh between its intersections with Hung Vuong and Nguyen Van Linh streets, and the other for electronic and telecommunication products along a section of Hoang Dieu between its intersections with Tran Binh Trong and Nguyen Van Linh.

According to the Viet Anh Construction Consultancy Company, deployment of these 2 new areas would face more difficulties than the Le Duan specialised area because the pavements of Phan Chau Trinh and Hoang Dieu streets are narrower and seriously downgraded.  In addition, the projects’ developers are finding it very difficult to access bank loans.

Speaking at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Phung Tan Viet stressed the need for local relevant agencies to upgrade the pavements, with the replacement of overhead power and telecommunications cables by underground ones at the same time in order to avoid wasting money.

A focus will be on conducting a survey of the demand for changing the livelihoods of the local residents living on these streets.  Careful consideration will be given as to whether both specialised areas should be set up at the same time or one after the other.

The city leader also asked the Hai Chau District authorities to submit their detailed plans on the 2 projects to the city leaders for approval by late this month and to complete at least one of them by late this year.
