During the Da Nang Taxation Department’s meeting on Thursday about ways to reduce tax collection losses, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Vo Duy Khuong emphasised that tax arrears or tax evasion is a State budget appropriation act.  Therefore, he stressed the urgency for local relevant agencies to take stronger measures to reduce tax collection losses to the city’s budget.

Vice Chairman Khuong remarked that the loose coordination between the Department and local relevant agencies was thought to be one of main reasons for inefficiency in the fight against tax losses.

He also asked the city’s Police Department to report to the local Taxation Department on a weekly basis the numbers of guests staying at local accommodation establishments.  This information can then be compared with the tax reports made by the owners of these establishments.   

In addition, the city’s Taxation Department was urged to work closely with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to enhance the management of tax collection from hospitality service providers. 

Importance should be also attached to increasing checks on local tax debt cases.

This year, special attention will be paid to collecting tax arrears and avoiding tax collection losses from some of the city’s key sectors such as hospitality services and construction, along with private transportation and design consultancy services.
