Following recent approval by the Da Nang People’s Committee, around 6 billion VND will be spent on monitoring the quality of the fruit and vegetables being sold at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market over the 2015-2020 period.

Inspection teams will be set up by the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other local relevant agencies.  The inspectors will be responsible for checking the origin of the fruit and vegetables which are sourced from localities nationwide, as well as for dealing with cases where the origin is unknown.

A close watch will be kept on the implementation of the city’s food safety regulations by the market’s traders.  In addition, periodic and unexpected inspections of fruit and vegetable stands will be conducted in the market in order to timely detect and handle any violations.

Special attention will be also paid to encouraging the market’s small traders to sign commitments to trade in fruit and vegetables with clear origins and ensure food hygiene and safety.
