Many businesses operating in Da Nang’s industrial parks (IPs) are now facing some difficulties in their production activities due to a severe shortage of their workers.

The city’s 6 IPs are in need of over 6,000 workers, mainly involved in textiles and garments, footwear, electronics assembly, mechanical engineering, welding and other aspects.  Many businesses at the Hoa Khanh IP are recruiting a large number of workers.  The Tan Loc Phat Textiles and Garments Company, for instance, needs to recruit 1,500 new employees.

Many workers have left their companies due to their low salaries, low-quality working conditions and other issues, which has resulted in a severe shortage of labour.  In the past, the majority of workers at local IPs were from the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue and other localities.  But now, these localities have their own IPs which are offering employment to their residents.  Moreover, many enterprises at the city’s IPs are facing the problem of many workers quitting their jobs in order to seek better ones.

In an effort to help local IPs to recruit more workers, the city’s Employment Sevice Centre are providing short-term vocational training courses to those who want to work at local IPs.

Since 2014, about 500 people have been enrolled at the centre and they have been trained in such sectors as garments and textiles, machinery handling, electrical equipment repairing and vehicle driving.  The trainees have been recruited by local businesses including Vinatex, 29 March Textiles and Garments, Suc Tre and Phong Phu after they finish their courses.

Moreover, the centre is providing job-seekers with useful employment consultancy services and introducing them to local companies.  Many courses on the English and Japanese languages at elementary level and those involved in business administration skills are now available for management cadres from local businesses.  In addition, heed is being paid to cooperating with local universities and colleges to ensure sufficient supplies of human resources to meet the recruitment requirements of businesses at local IPs.
