Since the start of this year, many instances of smuggling, trade fraud and trading in counterfeit goods using extremely sophisticated behaviours and technologies have negatively affected Da Nang’s economy.

According to the latest statistics released by the municipal Market Management Bureau, over the period the Bureau checked 4,448 trading cases in the city, an increase of 1,320 compared with the same period last year.  3,664 of them were found to be violating the city’s regulations, a rise of 1,072 over the previous year.  The violators were fined a total of over 11 billion VND, fulfilling 63.4% of the year's target.

The highest number of violations was recorded in trading in goods which are illegally smuggled, of unknown-origin, and without invoices and vouchers.  The seized products included cell phones, phone accessories, watches, fashion clothes, cigarettes, and cosmetics.

In an attempt to deal with the matter, over the remaining months of this year the Bureau will work closely with local relevant agencies to increase their checks and controls on local trading establishments in order to avoid unexpected price increases and maintain the stability of the local market.  Greater efforts will be made to detect, check and stop any trading violations in the city during the remaining months of the year.
