Efforts to attract more foreign visitors
Between January and April, although the number of international tourist arrivals to Viet Nam as a whole showed a downward trend, Da Nang attracted increased numbers.
According to the Chairman of the municipal Travel Association, Mr Huynh Tan Vinh, the city saw a 10% increase in foreign visitor arrivals over the period.
According to the survey results from the EU-funded project ‘Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme’, foreign tourists visited Da Nang mainly for the purposes of sightseeing and taking a holiday, and spent an average of 6.01 nights in the city. 79.11% of the visitors were arriving in the city for the first time, and over 60% of them said that they would most likely return to the locality again.
These positive results have been mainly attributed to the diversification of the local tourism products and the wide range of entertainment activities now available for visitors during their stay in the city.

In an attempt to attract even more foreign visitors, representatives from the tourism sector in Da Nang and the provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam are attending tourism fairs in South Korea until 14 June. The aim is to advertise the tourism of the 3 Vietnamese localities through the organisation of outdoor arts performances, ao dai (traditional long dress) fashion shows, and other exciting activities.
Da Nang is paying special attention to promoting the city's tourism brand slogan 'Da Nang - One of the World’s Top 52 Ideal Destinations to Visit in 2015' which refers to the recommendation by the New York Times in January. Importance is also being attached to writing a screenplay for a reportage film entitled 'Joint Efforts to Build an Attractive and Friendly Tourism Environment'.
Additionally, efforts are being made to publicise the local tourism logo and slogan both at home and abroad, advertise the 'Da Nang Culinary' programme, promote the development of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions) tourism, and organise a photo contest about the amazing beauty of Da Nang.
