Over the first half of this year, Da Nang’s total production value is likely to have risen by 8.2% to nearly 23 trillion VND compared with the same period last year.

The number of tourist arrivals to the city is expected to have hit 2.3 million and the tourism sector is predicted to have earned an estimated 6.3 trillion VND in revenue.

The total volume of cargo transported through the Da Nang Port is likely to have reached over 3 million tonnes.

The local information and communications sector is expected to have generated over 8 trillion VND.

The city’s total State budget collection is estimated to have fulfilled 55.4% of the year’s estimates set by the city.

These figures were officially released at the 22nd expanded session of the municipal Party Committee on Thursday to review the city’s performance over the first 6 months of the year and identify the main tasks for the remainder of the year.

The Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Ngo Quang Vinh, stressed the need to boost the development of local river tourism and promote tourism stimulus programmes during the present summer season in order to help increase more revenue from local tourism.

The Director of the city’s Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Nguyen Dieu, said that his unit will ask permission from the municipal government to revoke the investment licences of 16 seaside projects due to delays in their implementation.
