Da Nang’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are facing business management skills shortages, especially communication skills which is considered one of the most important shortcomings in their organisations.

The Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Internal Affairs, Mr Che Viet Son, said that the city's businesses still find it difficult to coordinate well with local administrative agencies because they do not understand each other enough.  He therefore stressed the need for local businesses to build impressive images of their business and production activities, and their attitudes and behaviour towards their partners, as well as to better develop their necessary skills.

Speaking at a ceremony in June to honour outstanding individuals and groups for their active involvement in implementing the city’s tax policies and laws, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Duy Khuong pointed out that the city’s business community lacks the patience to listen to, and cooperate with, the local authorities.  He asked local businesses to become more involved in establishing active cooperation with the local authorities who have created even more favourable conditions for them.

In an effort to improve communication skills amongst the local business community, Deputy Director Son suggested that local businesses should issue a code of conduct applicable to their production and business activities.  The code is considered a critical tool for local businesses to evaluate the moral qualities of their employees in order to help them improve their communication skills.
