Representatives from the Information and Communications departments in Da Nang and 16 localities nationwide recently signed agreements to adopt Da Nang's e-government model.  The localities are Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Ca Mau, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Kien Giang, Kon Tum, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Quang Nam, Soc Trang, Thai Nguyen, Tien Giang, Hai Phong and Can Tho.

Under the agreements, Da Nang's Department of Information and Communications will transfer 3 sets of documents to these localities free-of-charge.  These documents feature: the city’s overall e-government structure; the local information technology (IT) infrastructure such as the technical infrastructure, a public service information centre and an IT training, research and application centre; and how to apply the city’s e-government system, called DNG eGov Platform, in their localities.

In addition, there will be a compact disc containing the DNG eGov Platform’s source code and some of its applications, along with a guidebook about how to set up the system.

The Director of the city’s Department, Mr Pham Kim Son, remarked that his Department will send some of his employees to Tien Giang, Soc Trang and Ca Mau to help them effectively implement the e-government system.

According to Government Resolution No 01/NQ-CP, the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications has been asked to develop Da Nang’s e-government system in other localities and government agencies nationwide.  Over recent years, the city’s authorities have worked closely with the Ministry and relevant agencies to assess the overall structure, the connection ability, and the standards and efficiency of the local e-government system in order to prepare for the transfer of this system.
