At an online meeting on Thursday, Minister for Transport Dinh La Thang answered questions raised by representatives from transport associations and other relevant agencies nationwide.

The participants raised their concerns about key issues such as permission for vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 50km/h in residential areas from 10.00pm to 5.00am, instead of the current 40 km/h.  Some proposed that sleeper bus drivers should only need to have one year of experience instead of the existing 3 years.

Also in the meeting, Minister Thang reported that his unit will promptly issue legal documents about the operation of transport businesses as part of his ministry’s main national programme for this year.  In addition, strategies will be identified to develop the country’s transport systems, with a focus on boosting the restructuring of national transport.
