On Tuesday, the Head of the Economics and Budget Board of the Da Nang People's Council, Mr Mai Duc Loc, met with the Management Board of the city’s Hi-tech Industrial Park (IP) to review the implementation of the project’s 1st stage, which began in 2012 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Other issues relating to the progress of the IP’s investment attraction, plus its incentives and support policies for domestic and foreign investors, were also discussed at the meeting.

According to the IP’s Management Board, clearance of 328ha at the site has been basically completed, with a total of 1,266 families affected by the project, and 14,231 graves, relocated.

With regard to a 64.43ha extension to the 1st stage, site clearance and compensation for the 911 affected families, and the relocation of 518 graves, is currently underway.

The technical infrastructure has been completed on an area of 150ha, with internal roads, electricity and water supply systems, and information technology infrastructure.

To date, the IP has attracted 3 projects, including 2 Japanese companies with a total investment capital of 61.87 million USD, and the IP is striving to attract one or 2 more domestic and foreign investors by the end of this year.

Also at the meeting, leaders from the Management Board said that the construction of infrastructure and essential works is still unsynchronised and slower than expected mainly due to certain difficulties.  They also said that the board is facing many difficulties in attracting investment inflows into the IP.  In addition, the management unit which will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the IP's infrastructure has yet to be set up.

The Board asked the local authorities to increase the disbursement of capital from the city’s budget for the IP in order to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.
