Developing more specialised tourism products to attract more visitors

Published: October 21, 2015

Over recent years, Da Nang’s travel agencies have paid special attention to developing numerous new tourism products in order to attract more visitors.  They have included a fishing and diving tour to explore the coral reefs offered by the city's branch of the Ben Thanh Tourist Company, and a tour to discover the beauty of Da Nang from above (helicopter tour) launched by the local branch of the Viet Nam Travel Mart Company.

Since being launched just over 6 months ago, the helicopter tour has so far attracted over 600 domestic and foreign visitors on its 120 flights.  Most notably, this kind of local tourism product is now drawing a great deal of attention from foreign visitors, mainly those from China, South Korea, Japan, France, and Russia.  They are very interested in experiencing a bird’s-eye view of the amazing beauty of the city.

In an attempt to attract more visitors, the focus is on developing high-end beach tourism products featuring holiday resorts combined with international-standard beach sports.  In addition, attention is being paid to developing the Son Tra Peninsula into a national tourism area, and promoting the development of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism.  Importance is being attached to organising a wide range of cultural events and festivals along both banks of the Han River, and to developing local river tours.

It is hoped that the above products will help the local tourism sector create its own identity in order to bring satisfaction to visitors, and encourage them to return to the city later.

Da Nang welcomes millions of tourists from both home and abroad every year.  The city boasts a wide range of attractive beach tourism products thanks to its favourable geographical position and modern infrastructure.  It is now home to 489 hotels and resorts offering a total of 18,248 rooms, 90 of which are 3 - 5 star ones with a total of 9,331 rooms.
