On Thursday, the participating delegates at the ongoing 21st Congress of the Da Nang Party Committee (PC) for the 2015 - 2020 tenure discussed effective ways to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow into the city and promote local tourism development.

The Deputy General Director of the Da Nang branch of the Vietnam Brewery Limited, Mr Nguyen Thanh Phuc, suggested that the city should establish an FDI promotion group under the management of the municipal PC.  He also stressed the need to issue more incentive policies for furthering the green economic development to which many large groups worldwide are paying top priority.  Also, special heed should be paid to training high-quality local human resources, especially senior managers, in order to meet the recruitment requirements of local FDI businesses.

Mr Phuc also remarked that a working group should be set up to ensure good preparations for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, which is being held in Da Nang in October 2017.  This large-scale event is expected to welcome about 1,000 chief executive officers (CEOs) from large groups worldwide, and it will offer a golden opportunity for the city to appeal for more foreign investors to the city.

The Director General of Da Nang Port, Mr Nguyen Huu Sia, proposed that more effective measures should be taken to develop Da Nang into the leading hub of logistics services in the central region and highlands, with a focus on boosting infrastructure development at the Da Nang Port.  Given its fruitful development, the local logistics sector would make significant contributions to the city’s budget.

With regard to the local tourism sector, the Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Ngo Quang Vinh, remarked that the city is aiming to welcome 8 million tourists in 2020, 2 million of whom are foreigners.  In order to achieve this target, importance will be attached to promoting the city’s tourism brand name through the creation of more highly competitive tourism products in order to satisfy the diversified tastes of visitors.

In detail, appeals will be made for more FDI inflow into seaside tourism areas and high-class holiday resorts, which are considered to be the local key attractions.

Special attention will also be paid to deploying the Lang Van tourism area project, diversifying tourism services at the Ba Na-Suoi Mo ecotourism area, constructing a golf course at the Ba Na Hills Resort, implementing the Ngu Hanh Son Cultural Park project, and developing boat tours on the Co Co River.

More museums and theme parks will also be built in the near future, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions) tourism will be further promoted to take full advantage of the local modern infrastructure facilities.
