During their ongoing working visit to Germany, a delegation of Da Nang’s leaders and the Vietnamese Business Association in Germany (VBA) jointly organised a workshop in Berlin last Sunday to appeal for more German businesses to invest into Da Nang.

The event was co-chaired by the Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary, Mr Vo Cong Tri, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Dang Viet Dung, and the VBA’s President, Mr Pham Ngoc Ky.

At the event, representatives from Vietnamese businesses in Germany, and in some Eastern European countries, raised questions concerning the city’s policies on land leasing to overseas Vietnamese, and the building of a commercial centre, a restaurant specialising in European cuisine, and a software production centre in Da Nang.

In addition, the participants suggested that Da Nang-Frankfurt direct flights should be opened soon.  Also, that a focus should be on promoting the city’s image to European countries, especially Germany, and establishing a bilateral friendship with Germany’s Hamburg City.

In reply, Vice Chairman Dung introduced to the attendees the city’s incentives for FDI into the local tourism and service sectors.  He remarked that, with an annual average growth rate of over 20%, the city’s tourism sector has played a vital role in promoting the city’s socio-economic development over recent years.

VBA’s President Ngoc Ky applauded the organisation of the workshop in Germany and took the opportunity to thank the Da Nang leaders for facilitating Vietnamese businesses in Germany to invest and operate effectively in the city.

He said that the Europe Business Forum is expected to be held in Da Nang in August 2016.  Organised by the Union of Vietnamese Businesses Associations in Europe, the event will be a good opportunity for the city to advertise its image to European friends and appeal for more investment from European businesses.

On the same day, the Da Nang guests met with the Board of Directors of the Da Nang-Quang Nam Fellow Countrymen's Association.  They also took part in some cultural activities with the Vietnamese community in the Dong Xuan Commercial Centre which is under the management of Vietnamese people.
