Efforts to maintain a good tourism image
According to the latest statistics released by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the number of tourist arrivals to the city between January and October hit around 4.04 million, up 24.1% compared with the same period last year and representing 91.2% of the year’s target.
In detail, the number of foreigners rose by 31.2% to 977,033, whilst domestic visitors climbed by 22.1% to over 3.06 million. As a result, the city’s tourism sector earned over 11 trillion VND in revenue, an increase of 30.7% against the same period last year and meeting 93.3% of the year's target.
These positive results help to affirm that the local tourism sector is on an upward trend and has become one of the local spearhead economic sectors.
Therefore, Da Nang is making every effort to make the city a safer and more friendly destination for both domestic and foreign travellers in order to encourage them to extend their stays in our city, and then return again later.

However, the Marble Mountains tourist area has recently seen a significant increase in the number of touts trying to persuade tourists, especially foreigners, to visit particular shops selling fine art sculptures and other stone souvenirs.
In addition, some local accommodation and food providers have not displayed their prices or have overcharged for their services. There has also been unfair competition between some of the city’s 1 to 3-star hotels due to a shortage of business.
These problems have risked leaving negative impressions on visitors from both home and abroad. In attempting to solve them, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Tran Chi Cuong, has said that strict punishments will be imposed on tourism service providers violating the city’s regulations. He also remarked that those which repeatedly violate the city’s rules will have their business licences revoked.
