Pledging assistance for Japanese investors
On Thursday, representatives from over 120 Japanese businesses attended a workshop in Japan to learn about the investment climate in Da Nang. Co-organised by a delegation of Da Nang’s leaders, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, and the Viet Nam Economic Research Institute in Japan, the event was part of the ongoing working visit to Japan by the Da Nang delegation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan, Mr Nguyen Quoc Cuong, proudly stated that Da Nang is emerging as a peaceful and liveable city in Viet Nam. The city has topped the nation’s provincial competitiveness index and the index for information technology application readiness for many years.

He said he hoped that, after the workshop, many Japanese businesses would be willing to invest into Da Nang. He also pledged that the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan would assist Japanese businesses seeking to invest in Da Nang, and in Viet Nam as a whole.
The Director of the Viet Nam Economic Research Institute in Japan, Mr Yushita Hiroyuki, noted that Da Nang has the advantage of a favourable geographical position, being the Pacific gateway for the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) which connects with Myanmar, Thailand and Laos. The city is also blessed with beautiful beaches and stunning scenery, and its most popular cultural and spiritual tourism sites are located on the central region’s heritage route.
The Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman, Mr Huynh Duc Tho, pledged to create very favourable conditions for Japanese investors to explore trade opportunities in his city.
During his meeting on the same day with the Da Nang delegation, the President of the HIS Group, Mr Akira Hirabayashi, revealed that the group plans to invest in 10 hotels in Viet Nam, and he hopes that Da Nang will be chosen as the main investment destination in Viet Nam.
Mr Hirabayashi promised that he would do his utmost to promote the opening of Osaka-Da Nang direct flights, and the launch of charter flights between Da Nang and other Japanese localities, as soon as possible.
