According to the latest statistics released by the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, the city’s industrial production value is expected to hit 41,500 billion VND this year, a rise of 11.3% against 2014.  The local industrial production index has climbed by 12.6% compared with the same period last year.

The total export turnover of the city’s industrial sector is likely to have exceeded the year’s target by 3% to hit around 1.3 billion USD.  In particular, electrical equipment and electronics is expected to have generated an estimated 380 million USD, the textiles and garments industry around 310 million USD, and fisheries 185 million USD.

These positive predictions are mainly attributed to the city’s effective support policies for local businesses.  Many workshops on connecting supply and demand and seeking trade opportunities have been held in the city.  As a result, dozens of contracts have been signed between businesses from Da Nang and other localities nationwide.  This has helped local businesses to develop their production activities, expand their consumer markets, and create more job opportunities for local residents.

In addition, a total of 1.405 billion VND from the national and local industrial promotion budgets has gone to help 12 local businesses, cooperatives, traditional craft villages and industrial establishments in rural areas.  A focus has been on helping them buy advanced equipment for their production activities and offering them consultancy services about creating and registering trademarks for their products.  Thanks to this, the quality of local handicraft products has been improved remarkably.

In an attempt to help local businesses to boost their international integration, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has recently organised numerous workshops and training courses to provide local businesses with basic information about the bilateral trade agreements between Viet Nam and its foreign partners.  The Department has also encouraged these businesses to develop their own suitable strategies in order to ensure their sustainable development in the context of deeper international integration.
