Public sector employees nationwide will have a 3-day break for next week's New Year holiday (including Saturday and Sunday), and 9 days off for the forthcoming Tet Festival.  As a result, many travel agencies in Da Nang are taking advantage of the expected increase in demand for travel by launching various new tours.

Da Nang-based Viet Nam Tourism Company (Vitours) has launched a wide range of attractive tours to discover the beauty of Thailand, Singapore-Malaysia, Japan and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the city’s branch of Viettravel is running a promotional programme until 28 February 2016 entitled ‘Tet Reunion’, with a discount offered of up to 800,000 VND per adult.

Various attractive preferential packages are being offered by the city’s branch of the Saigontourist travel agency to express its gratitude to local customers and to welcome in Tet.

Some representatives from local travel agencies report that the majority of domestic visitors who have booked tours to the city over the public holidays are from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, whilst the remainder are from the provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, and other localities nationwide.

The Chairman of the city’s Travel Association, Mr Cao Tri Dung, said that over the New Year holiday the city is expecting to see a sharp increase, as against the same period last year, in the number of foreign tourist arrivals, especially visitors from China and South Korea.  He said that the number of domestic visitors to the city is likely to increase by up to 15% compared with last year.

According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city is expected to welcome 107,245 visitors during the Christmas and New Year holidays, up 13.4% compared with 2014.  Of this figure, the number of foreigners is likely to hit 56,352, whilst the remainder are domestic visitors.

These positive signs are mainly attributed to the long public holidays and the numerous attractive promotional programmes which are being offered by local resorts and hotels across the city to welcome in this year’s festive season.  They include a special musical performance at the Furama Resort Danang, Christmas and New Year parties at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, and a New Year party at The Grand Mercure Danang Hotel.  In addition, visitors can participate in gala dinners at the À La Carte Da Nang Beach, Holiday Beach, Minh Toan Galaxy, Diamond Sea and Brilliant hotels on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
