At 8.00am on Wednesday, Da Nang’s Market Management Team No 10 detected and seized 252 bottles of whisky, labelled with the Ballantine brand name, which are suspected of having been imported illegally.

The bottles were being unloaded in front of a house at 118 on 3 February Street in Hai Chau District from a passenger coach which had come from a Southern locality.

The haul, worth around 200 million VND in total, was found without any relevant papers to prove its origin nor the stamps for imported wines and spirits required by Vietnamese law.

The municipal Market Management Bureau will now widely publicise information about the seizure in the local media to try to find the owners.  If the owners do not contact the Bureau within 30 days, the seized items will be dealt with in accordance with Vietnamese law.
