CPI down by 0.27% in January
Da Nang’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January dropped by 0.27% against the previous month. This can be mainly attributed to the reduction in the price of domestic fuels despite the increasing prices of goods in the lead up to the Tet Festival.
In detail, the price of transportation declined significantly by 2.7% due to the decreases in domestic fuel prices on December 18 and January 4. The prices of building materials showed a slight decrease of 0.2% due to a decrease in the price of steel this month. The prices of some other commodities and services also saw slight decreases.
However, the highest increase during the month was for garments, hats and footwear at 0.28%, with the prices of food and beverages also showing a slight increase of 0.03%. These reflect the increase in prices as Tet approaches.
