In 2015, Da Nang’s industrial production value climbed by 11.3% against 2014 to hit 41,500 billion VND.  The total value of exports, mainly industrial and agro-forestry products, fulfilled the year’s target by reaching 1,295 million USD.  The city’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in 2015 increased by just 0.4% against 2014.

However, many of the city’s businesses have faced instability because they depend too much on raw materials imported from abroad.

In 2016, the city is aiming to raise its industrial production value by between 11 and 12% against 2015.  The total value of retail sales of goods and services is targeted to go up by 16 - 17%, and export turnover by 15 - 16%.

During his meeting on Thursday with representatives from the Department of Industry and Trade, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, stressed the need for the Department to enhance their industrial promotion activities and develop new industrial production models.  A focus should be on expanding markets, organising more trade fairs, and boosting trade activities with other localities both at home and abroad.
