La Maison 1888 among world's top new restaurants: CNN
The La Maison 1888 restaurant at the InterContinental Danang Peninsula Resort has just been named among the world's top 10 new restaurants by CNN.
The channel's columnist Chris Dwyer, who is a food expert based in Hong Kong, said restaurant fans around the world had plenty to "make their mouth water" this year, with new restaurants emerging at an astonishing rate and offering diverse menus.
The La Maison 1888 restaurant, first established by Michelin-starred French chef Michel Roux, was taken over by another similarly recognised French chef, Pierre Gagnaire, in 2015.
Situated on the Son Tra peninsula, the restaurant serves classic French cuisine with a contemporary flair which integrates global and local ingredients, such as poached Brittany oysters with banana flower.
CNN appreciated the sensational flavours of the local cuisine and saw a growing international fine-dining scene in Viet Nam. It judged La Maison 1888 to be the leader in both categories.
The other restaurants in CNN’s Top 10 are:
Osteria Oggi in Adelaide, Australia;
Hide Yamamoto in Macau;
Coya in Dubai;
Frenchie in London;
Made Nice in New York;
Urban Grill in Accra, Ghana;
El Informal in Barcelona;
Cozinha Artagao in Rio de Janeiro;
Le Bon Saint Pourcain in Paris.
