Many information technology (IT) businesses in Da Nang have been actively involved in developing their own products which have received high praise from customers.  Included is software for online games, teaching and healthcare.  As a result, Da Nang is now a city which can boast many high-quality IT companies, products and services.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications, Mr Nguyen Quang Thanh, said that the city authorities have encouraged domestic and foreign businesses to invest in IT research facilities and have asked local departments and agencies to prioritise using IT items produced by city-based businesses.  The intention is to promote the use of locally-made high-quality IT products.

Some IT business leaders say that cloud computing is one of the most strategic technology trends for their companies to develop products for because it does not depend much on infrastructure and human resources. 

Mr Francis Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director of Developer Experience and Evangelism at Microsoft Vietnam said that his group has developed such cloud computing solutions as Microsoft Azure and Office 365 for Education in order to enhance effective management in the city’s universities and junior colleges.  After trial periods, these solutions were highly appreciated by the lecturers and students.

Developed by the city’s branch of the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), its VNPT-HIS software has met the Vietnamese Ministry of Health’s requirements for managing medical examinations and treatment, as well as health insurance payments.

Some IT experts suggest that more preferential tax policies should be introduced to encourage IT businesses to do more research and develop new IT products.  A domestic IT business community should be established to promote the production of new products.
