In 2015, Da Nang’s departments of Taxation and Customs saw positive results in their tax collections which helped the city reach its target of exceeding the year’s estimates.

In particular, domestic taxes collected by the Taxation Department totalled over 12,199 billion VND, up 33.3 % against 2014.  The figure exceeded the year's target set by the central government and the city by 33.2% and 29.6% respectively.

Of this, tax from state-owned businesess surpassed the year’s estimates by 23.3%, from foreign-invested ones by 24.1%, and from non-state-owned ones by 10.2%.  Meanwhile, collections of personal income tax and land-use fees exceeded the year’s estimates by 21.8% and 39.4% respectively.

The Department of Taxation is aiming to raise its total tax collections by between 5 and 8% by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the Customs Department collected over 2,408 billion VND in customs tax last year.

The Department also gained numerous positive results in the fight against smuggling, fake goods and trade fraud.  In particular, a total of 186 smuggling and trade violation cases were detected and handled.  Fines were imposed on 123 to a total of around 1,172 billion VND, whilst another 33 involved seized hauls.

The Department of Customs is aiming to increase its tax collections this year.  Another focus will be on continuing the fight against smuggling and trade fraud, selling counterfeit and prohibited goods, and breaking tax regulations.
