Between 16 and 18 February, 3 farmers and some agricultural experts from Japan’s Chikujo Town in Fukuoka Prefecture, demonstrated clean agricultural production techniques to some vegetable growers in the communes of Hoa Khuong, Hoa Nhon and Hoa Phong in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District.

It is part of a project in the city, about recycling organic waste into liquid fertiliser for clean and environmentally friendly agricultural production, which is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Under the project, a liquid fertiliser plant will be built at the Khanh Son Waste Dump in Lien Chieu District in April.  Once operational, the plant will provide fertiliser for the vegetable growers from July.

Japanese-funded specialised vehicles will be used to spray the liquid fertiliser on clean and safe vegetable and rice growing areas in the district.  To date, 47 farmer families in the district have registered to using the liquid fertiliser in their production activities.

The Vice Chairman of Hoa Vang District People’s Committee, Mr Dang Phu Hanh, said that the effective implementation of this project is one of the locality’s key targets in implementing the new rural area upgrading programme this year.
