Thanks to the 9-day break for Tet and the favourable weather conditions later in the week, Da Nang welcomed 222,108 visitors during the festival, both domestic and international, which is a rise of 21.5% over the same period last year.  Around 36% of these visitors were foreigners, representing a 16.7% year-on-year increase, whilst the remainder were domestic visitors, up by 24.4 %.  The number of visitors arriving by air increased by 29%.

The many events and attractions available in the city attracted huge crowds to make Tet 2016 one of the most successful ever.

The 29 March Park welcomed thousands of visitors every day.  Various fascinating events were organised there including a photo exhibition, a bird-singing contest, and a singing contest entitled ‘Walking in the Spring Sunshine’.  In addition, there were water puppet shows, ‘bai choi’ (singing while acting as playing cards), and performances of Quang Nam Province’s traditional martial arts.  Visitors to the park also had the opportunity to take part in various exciting activities including bingo, duck boating, and a trolley train ride.

Before and during Tet, the Cinema and Film Distribution Centre’s mobile team screened Vietnamese Tet films in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Phuoc Commune, Ngu Hanh Son District’s SOS Village, and the Lien Chieu District Social Support Centre.

In addition, the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong and Trung Vuong theatres, along with the Art-Culture Pro Intermediate School of Da Nang, offered free performances at local military units and schools, as well as in remote areas.
