Da Nang has set out its goal of welcoming 8 million tourists per year by 2020, two millions of whom are foreigners.  This will help the city generate 27.4 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD) in revenue.

In order to achieve the ambitious goal, the municipal authorities will focus on measures to turn Da Nang into an interesting and prestigious tourist destination.

Those measures include the creation and promotion of high-class tourism products, ensuring security, and keeping the city clean.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will regularly organise the “Green, Clean, Beautful Sunday” campaign which is a part of the city's “The Year for Culture and Urban Civilisation" programme.

The department also plans to install security cameras at such popular tourist attractions as the Marble Mountains and the Hai Van Pass to ensure the safety of visitors.

The department Deputy Director Tran Chi Cuong said that tourism promotion programmes would be organised at travel fairs in major markets like China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Southeast Asian countries, Europe and North America .

Leaflets, books, films and video clips featuring the city’s tourism will be introduced to domestic and foreign visitors through local and international channels, Deputy Director Cuong said.

In addition, focus will be on enhancing the effective operation of the tourism information centres and representative offices in foreign cities in order to appeal for FDI inflows from international businesses.

According to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city received 1,040,169 domestic and foreign visitors, up 19.6% compared with the same period last year and fulfilling 20.2% of the year's target.  This helped the city’s tourism sector to earn over 3,016 billion VND in revenue, up 17.5% against the same period last year and also fulfilling 20.2% of the year's target.
