Future of the banking sector discussed
On Thursday, around 100 high-ranking bank officials from Switzerland and Viet Nam attended a forum in Da Nang entitled ‘The Future of Viet Nam’s Banking Sector’.
Present at the event were the Swiss Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam, Ms Beatrice Maser, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Ho Ky Minh, and the Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam, Mr Nguyen Kim Anh.
Co-organised by the city’s branch of the State Bank of Viet Nam and the Swiss Finance Academy, the event provided an opportunity for leaders of Viet Nam’s banks to gain valuable experience about managing and enhancing the capacity of the banking sector from Swiss experts.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Vice Chairman Ky Minh remarked, “Over the past 45 years, Viet Nam has become a reliable partner with Switzerland in such sectors as foreign affairs, trade, investment and education. Switzerland is well-known for its strong banking sector and it is, therefore, an honour for the city to host this forum which marks an important milestone in deepening the bilateral sustainable cooperation and friendship with Switzerland.”
Ambassador Maser applauded the fruitful relationship with Viet Nam and affirmed that Viet Nam is still a priority country for receiving Swiss official development assistance (ODA) funding.
