Published: April 25, 2016

Public sector employees will officially have 4 days off work from 30 April to 3 May for the National Reunification Day (30 April) and International Labour Day (1 May).  As a result, many travel agencies in Da Nang are taking advantage of these upcoming holidays to launch attractive tourism products for their customers.

The Viet Da travel company is offering attractive day tours around the city and short day trips to neighbouring localities.  The day tours, which are being offered at reasonable prices, include ‘Conquering Ba Na-Nui Chua Special Use Forest’, ‘Discovering the Beauty of Cu Lao Chao Island’, and ‘Visiting Marble Mountains Tourist Area and Hoi An City’.

Meanwhile, the local branch of Viettravel is providing numerous tours departing from the city.  They include ‘Visiting the Tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap and Paradise Cave in Quang Binh Province’, ‘Travelling to Four Islands in Nha Trang City’, ‘Visiting Ha Noi, Ha Long and Sapa’, and ‘Thanh Tan Hot Springs in Thua Thien-Hue Province’.

In addition to domestic tours, the city is seeing a significant increase compared to last year in the number of local citizens who have already booked tours to foreign countries.  This is mainly being attributed to the city’s economic development and the number of direct international flights now operating from Da Nang, as well as the numerous attractive promotions being launched by local travel agencies.

The Deputy General Director of the Da Nang-based Viet Nam Tourism Joint Stock Co (Vitours), Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, said “This year’s holidays fall on some large-scale festivals in other countries, including water festivals (Songkran) in Laos and Thailand, and the Hanami festival in Japan.  As a result, the number of customers from the city and elsewhere in the central region booking tours to these countries is likely to increase dramatically”.

Mr Tung said, “Although Da Nang is not holding its International Fireworks Competition this year, the city is still an attractive destination for a large number of domestic and foreign visitors”.  He added, “During April, the volume of customers booking tours through Vitours is likely to have risen by between 40% and 50% compared with normal days”.

According to the latest statistics by local relevant agencies, local hotels are enjoying room occupancy rates of between 60% and 80% for the forthcoming 4-day break.  In particular, at beachfront hotels the figure is up to 95%.

The General Secretary of the Da Nang Hotels’ Association, Mr Pham Minh Tuan, said “Currently, room bookings at local hotels for this weekend are lower than the same period last year because travellers often book hotels only several days before their vacations”.
