Published: June 24, 2016

On Thursday evening, the opening ceremony of the 2016 Beach-Leisure & MICE Travel Mart (BMTM Da Nang 2016) took place at the Furama Resort Danang.

In attendance at the event were former Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, incumbent Deputy Minister Vuong Duy Bien, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung, and representatives from some domestic and foreign tourism businesses.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Tho remarked “Da Nang boasts great potential for developing tourism.  Included are a synchronous transport infrastructure system with modern seaports and an international airport, being on the central region's heritage route, a diversity of tourism resources, beautiful beaches, and a healthy and safe tourism environment.  Thanks to this, Da Nang has emerged as an attractive destination for visitors from both home and abroad.”

He said that the fair offers a chance for participating travel and tourism agencies to introduce their beach-leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions) tourism products.  In addition, it is a good opportunity for the city to advertise the beautiful images of the land and people of Da Nang to domestic and foreign friends.

Deputy Minister Bien noted that the international event, the first of its kind in the city, aims to stimulate both the domestic and international tourism markets in order to attract more visitors to Da Nang, and to Viet Nam as whole.  It would also help domestic businesses to boost bilateral trading cooperation with their foreign partners, and expand their markets into other potential foreign countries, especially those with direct international flights into Da Nang.

The BMTM Da Nang 2016 is taking place at the city’s Tien Son Sports Arena from 24 - 26 June.  The fair features 172 stands from 31 travel agencies and resorts, along with those from Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and RoK.
