Dedicated beach sports and water sports area to be established
Over recent years, beach sports and water sports have been attracting a great deal of attention in Da Nang from both residents and visitors, especially during the summer season.
The water sports available include jet skiing, coracle racing, paragliding, water skiing, banana boat riding, kayaking, and diving to explore the coral reefs.
26-year-old Duong Van Tuan from Ha Noi said, “Paragliding gave me panoramic views of the city’s beautiful beaches, the amazing Son Tra Peninsula, and the magical Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara statue at the Linh Ung Pagoda. It was an exciting and memorable moment for me”.
It isn’t only young people who are attracted to the sports either. 54-year-old Trinh Thi Hien from Ho Chi Minh City excitedly said, “It is really amazing to surf the waves on a jet ski”.

The Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, Mr Phan Minh Hai, remarked “My unit has recently asked the local authorities to create a dedicated beach sports and water sports area on the beach between the My Hanh and Phuoc My restaurants. This area is currently a non-swimming section, and it has already been installed with facilities and equipment for locals and visitors to use, including horizontal and parallel bars, and football and volleyball courts”.
Mr Hai added, “Earlier this year, 6 local beach sports service providers merged together into the Da Nang Beach and Sports company in order to further the professionalism of their beach sports services. The company now has 4 new speedboats, 10 jet skis, and 12 paragliders”.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Tran Chi Cuong said, “The tourism sector will focus on encouraging local businesses to offer new sports for locals and visitors, including flyboarding and seawalking”. He added, “My department will join efforts with the local beach sports service providers to develop a dedicated beach sports and water sports complex”.
