Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho has asked local relevant agencies to take samples of local frozen seafood for testing and to report the results to the PC no later than 20 June.

According to the municipal Department of Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance, the city now has 10 frozen seafood storehouses.  Samples of frozen seafood will be collected from these establishments and will then be sent to quality assurance and testing centres in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to check whether or not they contain lead, mercury and phenol. 

The reason for this is that the testing centres in Da Nang are currently unable to conduct tests for these toxic substances.
