Over recent years, Da Nang’s authorities have issued numerous preferential polices for local businesses to help them overcome their difficulties and operate effectively in the city.  In particular, local businesses have been able to access bank loans at reasonable interest rates, and business premises and financial assistance to promote their technological innovations and enhance their investment promotion activities.

Reporter Khanh Hoa from the Da Nang Newspaper has interviewed some business people and representatives from the local business associations to collect their opinions and recommendations about measures to help the city’s businesses and how to promote its tourism development.

The General Director of the BQ Shoe company, Mr Phan Hai, suggested that funds from the city’s budget should be given to promote technological innovations in those businesses involved in such local priority sectors as mechanical engineering, IT, and advanced services.  Also, the city authorities should facilitate its businesses to access funds from both home and abroad to accelerate their technological innovations.

The Vice Chairman of the city’s Young Enterprises’ Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SKY-LINE High-quality Educational System, Ms Le Thi Nam Phuong, stressed the need for the central government to allow local businesses to pay their land lease fees on a yearly basis for their rental terms of between 20 and 50 years, instead of the current one-off payment.  This will help the leasers to ease their financial burdens and ensure stability in the city’s land use fee collections.

The Chairman of the Cam Le District Businesses’ Association, Mr Le Van Duong, asked for permission from the municipal government to establish a 26.6ha industrial cluster opposite the Hoa Cam Industrial Park.  He remarked that, once it is put into operation, the new venue will offer premises for over 200 local businesses to use for their production purposes.

The Chairman of the municipal Travel Association, Mr Huynh Tan Vinh, proposed that the city authorities should make master plans for promoting the tourism development of the city’s Son Tra Peninsula, with a focus on developing eco-tourism and spiritual tourism there.  Special heed should be paid to making the beautiful red-shanked douc langurs the city’s tourism symbol in the near future. Also, greater efforts should be made to facilitate the opening of new direct flights connecting Da Nang with Australian and Japanese localities, and with other ASEAN member countries.  Specialised food and shopping areas should also be established on Bach Dang and Tran Hung Dao.

The Deputy General Director of the Da Nang-based Viet Nam Tourism Joint Stock Co (Vitours), Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, emphasised the need to develop new tourism products to attract more foreign visitors.  For example, to offer free bus travel for them on the Hue-Da Nang-Hoi An route, and to construct more entertainment and shopping areas to encourage them to increase their spending in the city.
