The event was jointly organised by the Da Nang Investment Promotion Centre and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
Vice Chairman Minh briefed the participants on the operation of Malaysian businesses based in Da Nang over recent years, as well as on the city’s investment attraction strategies for the future.
The Da Nang guests also answered questions raised by the Malaysians relating to the establishment of Halal food supply chains, the processing industry, the construction of more industrial parks, the manufacture of electronic components, and tourism in Da Nang.
In reply, representatives from Matrade vowed that their organisation would act as a bridge in appealing for more Malaysian businesses to invest in the city in the years ahead.
The guests also took the opportunity to encourage Mayflower, the leading travel service specialist in Malaysia, to extend its operations into Da Nang, with a focus on promoting MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism, travel services and other related aspects.
The Da Nang delegation also had a working session with the Board of Directors of the Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (TCMH Group) in Malaysia, and visited one of the Group’s automobile factories. The TCIE Vietnam Company, a subsidiary of the TCMH Group, now runs its automobile factory at the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park in Da Nang’s Lien Chieu District. The factory specialises in assembling Nissan Sunny cars, which are manufactured in accordance with the strict requirements of Japan’s Nissan Motor Company.
The delegation also conducted investment promotion activities in Penang, one of the most developed and economically important states in Malaysia as well as a thriving tourist destination.
During their stay in the state, the Da Nang delegation urged the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers to facilitate its members to visit Da Nang in order to seek more investment opportunities there. They also exchanged investment promotion experiences with representatives from Invest Penang, a non-profit entity of the Penang State Government with the primary purpose of promoting investments within Penang.
The delegation also visited factories manufacturing electric motorcycles (ES11 and EB25) and lithium ion battery packs (Eclimo Power) and modules. These factories belong to the Eclimo Sdn Bhd, which is a 100% Malaysian-owned EV company founded in June 2008 to champion the nation’s contributions towards sustainable energy and unveiling the wonder of the exciting global revolution of electric vehicles.
Of the 38 countries and territories who are currently investing in Da Nang, Malaysia is now the 8th largest with 13 projects, worth in total over 101.8 million USD which accounts for 3% of the total.
