Boom in new accommodation establishments
As of June this year, Da Nang had 535 accommodation establishments offering a total of 20,166 rooms. Of this figure, 35 are 4 and 5-star with 6,084 rooms, 65 are 3-star with 4,394 rooms, 425 are one and 2-star with 9,411 rooms, whilst the remainder are luxury international-standard villas and homestays offering 277 rooms in total.
The number of such establishments will continue increasing as there are numerous hotels and resorts currently under construction across the city.
In particular, at least 40 hotels are underway along major streets in Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts, including Nguyen Tat Thanh, Pham Van Dong, Vo Nguyen Giap, Do Ba, Phan Ton, Le Quang Dao, Hoang Ke Viem, Tran Bach Dang, Ngo Thi Si, and Ha Bong.

Mr Ho Phuong, the owner of a hotel being built on Vo Nguyen Giap, said “The city will soon host a number of large-scale international cultural and sporting events, including the Da Nang International Marathon in August, and the 5th Asian Beach Games from 24 September to 3 October. Realising the increasing number of tourist arrivals to the city in the future and their high demand for accommodation, I decided to open a hotel”.
The only 500m-long Ha Bong street is now home to dozens of hotels and guesthouses, and it usually welcomes hundreds of vehicles carrying tourists to these establishments every day.
The rise in the number of such establishments has helped the city meet the increasing demand for accommodation from domestic and foreign visitors.
In attempting to improve the quality of such services for visitors, the municipal Department of Tourism has recently publicised the national hotel ranking standards for this kind of service. Also, other regulations have been introduced about how to apply for business licences, the submission of statistical reports, and displaying prices.
In addition, small-sized hotels are asked to install security surveillance cameras and glass doors at their properties, as well as ensure that their rooms all have deadbolts to be more secure.
Greater efforts will be made to provide training courses for staff members at 1 - 3 star hotels in order to help them more effectively receive and deal with visitor complaints.
Also, domestic and foreign investors are being encouraged to develop in a specific hotel market segment which meets the current demands of customers. The intention is to help them operate more effectively and ensure the city’s sustainable infrastructure development.
