Da Nang to become one of the country's major fishing centres
Da Nang will be developed as one of Viet Nam's six major fishing centres, as part of the Master plan on fisheries development to 2020 with a vision towards 2030.
The move aims to serve the logistical demands of the city, and the central region as a whole. This will, in turn, help to promote the development of the regional marine economic sector.

According to the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Nguyen Do Tam, the centre will include fishing wharfs and well-equipped logistics facilities.
They are expected to create impetuses for the restructure and development of the city's fisheries, especially its off-shore fishing activities, in a modern way, thus raising the values of both wild-caught and farmed fish in the city, and the country as a whole, Tam said.
The sector will continue implementing policies and mechanisms of the central government and the city to provide even more support to local fishermen in building their well-equipped fishing vessels with a capacity of at least 400 CV. Thus, this will help to enhance the efficiency of the city's offshore fishing activities, and its product quality and value.
Investment will be poured into upgrading the Tho Quang fishing wharf into a modern and effective fishery centre, with a focus on environment protection and food safety.
Some 20 billion VND (900,000 USD) will be allocated to help local fishermen replace their small, near-coast fishing boats with new offshore-fishing vessels.
Son Tra District People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nam highlighted the vital role of fisheries which have helped his district take the lead in the city's socio-econmic development .
