Published: July 06, 2016

On Tuesday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman, Mr Huynh Duc Tho, and Vice Chairmen Nguyen Ngoc Tuan and Tran Van Mien, listened to reports on a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) business network development project in the city towards 2025 with a vision to 2030.

According to a spokesperson for the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, as of last month Da Nang was home to 5 LPG bottle filling stations and 357 LPG establishments.  In addition, there were a total of 35 LPG storage tanks in the city with a total capacity of 1,800 tons.

The average monthly sales of LPG reached 2,421 tons.  The LPG  business network has been expanded from the inner city to rural areas in Hoa Vang District.  This met the demand of local residents for consumption, production, and business activities.

Also, several shortcomings in the LPG business activities in the city were pointed out.  In particular, some of the city’s private LPG trading establishments have yet to have their business licences granted or renewed.  Furthermore, some LPG traders have not yet been trained about quality measurement, technical and labour safety, and environmental protection.

From now until 2025, Da Nang is aiming to add a further 3 LPG wholesale stores, 3 dedicated LPG supply stations, 4 LPG bottle storages, 5 LPG filling stations for vehicles, and 117 LPG bottle trading establishments, to meet the consumption demand in the city.

After listening to the reports, Chairman Tho urged local relevant agencies to perfect the project’s draft and make detailed plans for installing automatic LPG supply systems at local industrial parks, apartment buildings, and trade centres.  All plans must be submitted to the local authorities for consideration and approval.

He also asked the Department of Industry and Trade to increase its checks and monitoring of LPG bottle trading establishments in order to timely detect and handle any commercial fraud violations.  They should also focus on providing training courses on LPG professional skills, quality measurement, and fire and explosion safety for local LPG bottle trading establisments’ employees.
