According to a spokesperson for the Da Nang Department of Planning and Investment, the city saw numerous positive results from its socio-economic development over the first half of this year.

In particular, the city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) hit around 24,501 billion VND, up 7.9% compared with the same period last year. The value of local industrial production increased 15.5% against last year to reach 22,695 billion VND. In addition, the city saw bustling development of new tourism services and trading activities over the period.
By late June, the city had granted business certificates to 2,420 businesses, branches and representative offices. This was an increase of 45.6% in the number of newly-registered businesses, and 32.6% in the investment capital.
The city is now home to 6 ODA projects totalling 400 million USD. However, between January and June Da Nang attracted only 10 million USD from 26 FDI projects.
Over the rest of the year, the Department will continue tightening their control of debts from local public construction projects, and accelerate the implementation of the city’s key projects with a focus on dealing with environmental pollution and flooding problems.
Special attention will be paid to completing all the necessary procedures and dossiers of the projects for the road tunnel at the western end of the Han River bridge, and the one at the junction of Dien Bien Phu, Nguyen Tri Phuong and Le Do.
Importance will be attached to appealing for more ODA and FDI projects for support and hi-tech industries, and for environmentally-friendly and social welfare programmes.
