This positive sign was mainly attributed to the Department’s great efforts in ensuring the efficiency of its operations and the acceleration of its administrative reforms.

Over the 8-month period, various effective measures were taken to promote local trade, investment, and tourism activities whilst ensuring the efficiency of the State management of local customs procedures.

Greater efforts were also made to promote the application of the Viet Nam Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System/Viet Nam Customs Information System (VNACCS/VCIS) in its divisions across the city.

Special attention was paid to updating its IT infrastructure, enhancing its network security system, and promoting modernisation of its customs procedures to ensure efficient operation.

In addition, importance was attached to promoting cooperation between the customs sector and the local business community to promptly detect and handle any difficulties arising from the operation of the businesses.

Various effective measures were taken to reduce tax collection losses, increase checks on local tax debt cases, and raise public awareness of local customs procedures.

Between January and August, over 2,300 of the city’s businesses have so far this year used e-customs procedures, involving 55,700 declarations or 94.3% of the Department’s total.

Over the period, post-clearance inspections of local import and export businesses were conducted.  In addition, fines totalling 959.1 million VND were imposed on those violating customs regulations.
