The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Ho Ky Minh, recently chaired a meeting with leaders of local government departments, agencies and associations to review the implementation of the city’s ‘Promoting the Development of Da Nang Businesses by 2020’ programme over the first half of this year.

Over the reviewed period, 2,420 businesses, branches and representative offices were established in the city, with a total registered capital of over 8,543 billion VND.  These figures show an increase of 45.6% and 32.6% respectively against the same period last year.

In particular, local FDI businesses generated 414.6 million USD in revenue, just over double that of last year.

During the period, the reform of administration was accelerated in order to enhance the local investment and production environment.  The concentrated one-stop mechanism was implemented effectively in the city.

A spokesperson for the city’s Association for Small-and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) suggested that the city authorities should take effective measures to deal with the city’s severe lack of production premises for such enterprises.  Most of them are small or very small scale, so they cannot operate in the local industrial parks (IP).

In order to solve the problem, the city is planning to earmark around 30ha of the 2nd phase of the Hoa Cam and the Hoa Nhon IPs for local SMEs.  In addition, the authorities in Cam Le and Lien Chieu districts will cooperate with local relevant agencies to build more IPs for  such businesses in these localities.

Vice Chairman Minh urged the departments and agencies to quickly boost administrative reforms and implement the one-stop mechanism.  He remarked that next month the city will announce more support programmes for all local businesses from 2017.
