The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort will host the 2016 World Travel Awards (WTAs) gala ceremony for Asia and Australasia on 15 October.

Over 180 invited guests who are high-ranking delegates, and top international businesspeople and experts in international tourism and communications sectors, will gather at the Great Hall of the resort’s The Summit conference centre for the year’s most eagerly anticipated event for tourism sector.

Mr Graham Cooke, President and Founder of WTAs, explained that the resort has been chosen to host the international large-scale event thanks to its high-end services and its stunning landscape.

By hosting this international event, the resort will affirm its prestige and reputation in the world, as well as make Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, into a list of luxury destinations on the global holiday tourism map.  In addition, the invited guests will be considered tourism ambassadors who will advertise the beautiful images of Da Nang, and Viet Nam in general, to international tourism community.

Owned by the Sun Group, the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is located on the Son Tra Peninsula and was designed by world-renowned architect Bill Bensley.  Since operations began in June 2012, the resort has welcomed thousands of international visitors, including world famous superstars and politicians.

In addition, the resort was honoured as the ‘World’s Leading Luxury Resort' at the World Travel Awards ceremonies for 2 consecutive years in 2014 and 2015.  Its HARNN Heritage Spa was named as the ‘World's Best New Hotel Spa’ at last year’s awards ceremony, whilst the La Maison 1888 restaurant was named among the world's top 10 new restaurants by CNN.

Founded in 1993,  the awards aim to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel tourism and hospitality industry.  Today, WTAs brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
