The new boat was built under the Da Nang People’s Committee-issued Decree No 47/2014/QD-UBND regarding fisheries development policies to help local fishermen build their new boats.
The 1,200 CV, 27m-long, 7.2m-wide ship can store 150 tons of goods or fish products, and it was built at a cost of around 7 billion VND.
It will be involved in fisheries support activities in the Hoang Sa fishing grounds, the central coast area, and the Tonkin Gulf. In particular, it will provide fuel and necessary provisions to offshore fishermen, and buy the seafood caught at sea directly from offshore boats.
In attempting to help local fishermen build their new fishing boats, the municipal People’s Committee recently approved to grant 812.245 million VND from the city’s budget to each of 2 fishermen from Thuan Phuoc Ward. The beneficiaries are Mr Nguyen Duc Tuan and Mr Nguyen Duc Cuong who are the owners of fishing boats DNa 90717 TS and DNa 90583 TS respectively.
