During the event, the Director of Japan's Viet Nam Economic Research Institute, Mr Hiroyuki Moribe, introduced the participants to the current economic situation and investment environment in Viet Nam. They were also informed about Viet Nam’s investment support programmes for Japanese small and medium-sized businesses who want to invest in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.
More Japanese investment was appealed for in such priority aspects as real estate, food, agriculture, the support industry, services, information technology, small trade, transport services, textiles and garments industry, environmental technology, energy and infrastructure.
Da Nang PC Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung remarked, “My city is cooperating with Viettel - Viet Nam’s military-run telecom group, to develop plans to make Da Nang a smarter city. To date, the local Software Park has attracted 70 domestic and foreign businesses, including 30 Japanese IT ones. The 1,129ha Hi-tech Park with fully completed infrastructure is now available for investors from both home and abroad. A total of 4 new industrial parks (IP) will be built in the city in the years ahead, including one for Japanese support industry businesses.”
On the same day, the group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung, visited a monument at the Japanese Jorin-ji Temple. The 2.7m-high monument is placed on a 1m-high platform, and was created by Vietnamese patriot Phan Boi Chau to express his thankfulness to Japanese doctor Asaba for his kind help during the Vietnamese man’s stay in Japan.
