Master plan approved for development of national-level Son Tra tourism area
The Vietnamese Prime Minister has recently approved Da Nang’s master plan for developing a national-level Son Tra tourism area towards 2025 with a vision to 2030.
About 10km northeast of the inner city, the 1,056ha tourism area will be nestled on the Son Tra Peninsula in Son Tra District. The specific focus will be on developing the venue to meet the requirements for a national-level tourism site by 2025.
By 2030, special attention will have been paid to developing this site into a luxury holiday and eco-tourism centre in the south central coastal region, as well as into an important destination on the national road and marine tourism routes.
Also, importance will be attached to developing eco, luxury marine, cultural and spiritual, and sports and adventure sports tourism products in the area. Some support tourism products will include tours to explore the local culture and history, and to such local popular tourist attractions as the Marble Mountains, Hai Van Pass and Ba Na Hills.
The soon-to-be-developed site is aiming to welcome 3.5 million visitors and earn around 1.9 trillion VND in revenue by 2025, and 4.6 million visitors and nearly 4.3 trillion VND by 2030.
The development will include the Ho Xanh-Bai But accommodation centre, an environmental interpretive and eco-tourism centre at the intersection between Yet Kieu Street and a road leading to the Ban Co (Chessboard) Peak, and a specialised areas for tourism services and restaurants at the Tien Sa Port.
Luxury accommodation areas will be set up in such areas as Bai Trem, Bai Rang, Ghenh Da-Mui Nghe, Bai Bac, Suoi Da and Tien Sa Port. They are expected to offer a total of 1,600 rooms by 2030.
Some areas for entertainment and sports activities will also be established such as a flower garden, an animal rescue area, a semi-wildlife zoo, a community campsite, and fishing and diving areas.
