Mr Marc Townsend, Managing Director of the real estate consultancy firm CBRE Viet Nam, remarked “Da Nang is very attractive to visitors from both home and abroad thanks to its high-end tourism services.  The gap between Da Nang and Thailand’s Phuket in the hotel market segment is being gradually narrowed”.

Over the past 3 months, some new 3-star hotels offering a total of 150 rooms have been put into operation.  This has helped to bring the total number of rooms at local 3 to 5-star hotels to 11,415.  Currently, 3-star hotels account for 45% of the city’s hotel accommodation, whilst 4-stars account for 27% and 5-stars 28%.  It is predicted that a total of 6,000 more hotel rooms will become available between 2017 and 2018.

A decade ago, most of the 5-star hotels in the city were developed by foreign investors.  However, many large domestic investors, including Sovico, Vingroup, SunGroup and Empire, are dominating this hotel sector because they are now quite capable of operating in this high-end tourism service.

Amongst them, SunGroup is one of the city’s leading domestic real estate investors.  It was the developer of the 198-room InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the 323-room Novotel Premier Han River, and the 118-villa Premier Village Danang Resort.

Da Nang is now home to 76 tourism projects developed by domestic and foreign investors, with a total investment of over 12 billion USD.

Currently, many domestic tourism real estate investors are focusing on enhancing the quality of their services and promoting their brand names through inviting world-renowned hotel management groups to manage their properties.  Thanks to the groups’ reputations, their luxury hotels and resorts are now becoming more popular with international guests.

In particular, AccorHotels is managing some of the SunGroup projects, such as the Novotel Premier Han River and the Premier Village Danang Resort.  The world's leading hotel operator in Europe, AccorHotels is present in 92 countries and manages more than 3,800 hotels.

At present, the international hotel management groups are tending to expand their market shares in Da Nang.

The Wyndham Hotel Group and Absolute Hotel Services will operate in Da Nang for the first time with the soon-to-open Anh Duong-Soleil Da Nang hotel-apartment complex and the Eastin Grand Resort Danang respectively.  Meanwhile, other international groups such as AccorHotels, Marriot Hotels, Hyatt Hotel Group and InterContinental Hotels Group, are trying to expand their business activities through increasing the number of local managed properties.

Thanks to their effective operation, the hotel management groups have helped to enhance the quality and brand name of accommodation services in the city.
