The city’s remarkable urban planning achievements over the past 2 decades, plus its future urban development orientations, were presented at the event.

The Head of the municipal People Council’s Board of Urban Affairs, Mr To Van Hung, pointed out some of the shortcomings in the city’s urban planning over the period.  In particular, the work which has caused the deterioration of the ecological environment, and the loss of biodiversity and value of the urban landscape.

Architect Hoang Quang Huy, Chairman of the local Urban Planning and Development Association, proposed that a perfect master urban plan should be developed to make Da Nang a regional urban centre for tourism services in the years ahead.  He added that the focus should be on identifying the local population size, expanding local administrative boundaries, building a synchronous technical infrastructure system, and enhancing urban management.

Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh, Chairman of the Viet Nam Urban Planning and Development Association, suggested that the city authorities should develop Da Nang into a green and ecological urban area, and create a long-term urban development strategy.

In his closing speech at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung highly praised the suggestions from the architects.  He noted that their ideas would help the city authorities to develop a strategic urban plan in order to promote its sustainable development in the future.
