During these months, which also coincide with the rainy season, the city-based travel agencies have often faced a dramatic decrease in the number of customers booking tours through their companies.  The key reasons seemed to be that domestic school pupils had started their new academic years, whilst employees were very busy trying to complete work before the year end or Tet.

However, over recent years, the number of domestic travellers booking tours during this season has increased significantly.  This growth is mainly being attributed to the great efforts made by the municipal tourism sector and the local travel agencies.

Visitor Nguyen Van Nam and his wife Mai Huong from Ha Noi have recently spent a 3-day vacation in Da Nang.  Mrs Huong said that they had enjoyed many preferential packages and saved lots of money by travelling to the city during its low season.  She remarked, “Although we could not swim at the beautiful beaches due to the cold weather, we found it very convenient for visiting the city’s popular attractions such as the Marble Mountains Tourist Area and Ba Na Hills Resort because we have avoided the busy periods”.

The city’s travel agencies are cooperating with domestic air carriers and local hotels to offer flight and accommodation services at preferential prices to attract more visitors from other localities to the city.

The Deputy General Director of the city’s Viet Nam Tourism Joint Stock Co (Vitours), Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, underlined the need for local travel agencies to offer even more promotional packages in order to attract more business.  He remarked that this will help the city to reduce the gap between its peak season and off-peak season visitor numbers.
